Chemical Students visit Aramco Company in Ras Tanura

Within the framework of the Faculty of Engineering's keenness and approval from the dean of the college Dr. Ibrahim Al-Falki. A group of graduates students of Chemical Engineering Department visited to Aramco in Ras Tanura on 11-13/04/2018 under the supervision of Dr. Atef El Jery and Dr. Yasser Fahmy. The aim of the visit includes  identifying advanced systems oil and gas production. This plant is one of the most important biggest plant in the region, fulfilling health and safety requirements. We were welcomed by a group of members of the Public Relations Department of Saudi Aramco. The program began on Thursday 12/04/2018 with the screening of a film about energy in Saudi Aramco under the slogan "This Saudi Aramco - Energy for the World". In a presentation given by the executive director of four oil refineries in Saudi Arabia, engineer Suleman Al Bargan, stressed the  programs of communication with the community in Saudi Arabia and indicated the role of citizenship and the company's record in communicating with the community and the environment, and also briefed the students on the stages of exploration and drilling of oil using latest technology. The oil paved the way for unprecedented events in the field of oil exploration and leading to change the world. He spoke of the flexibility that Aramco has in providing opportunities amidst the challenges in the oil and gas industry. The company has maintained its long-term integrated strategy, supporting capital efficiency sustainable investment, the development of technology, and the enhancement of human resources. The company's mission is to provide energy to the Kingdom and the world in a reliable manner, as well as to progress in its efforts to become the largest company in the world. The executive director added that the company will continue to expand its customer base in the international markets by increasing the number of customers on the one hand and expanding the geographical scope to include new countries where they had never been present. In the field of refining, processing and marketing, the company's executive director pointed out that the company's plan to integrate the refining network with the production facilities of chemicals and industrial complexes hosting the associated value has reached an advanced stage with the starting the chemical company. He also point out that work is being completed quickly to finish Jazan refinery project at an accelerated pace. He said that the Ras Tanura Refinery won the Emerson International Trust Award for Best Reliability Program as the first company in the Middle East being presented this award. The company's Traffic Safety Program received the Best Public Awareness Campaign, and the Environmental Education Program received the best responsibility initiative Social.

After those, the students received a through training by engineer Imed Ghamdi composing all the stage from receiving and sorting the raw materials until the final product. And then we went  to visit  the labs for understanding. We took lunch all together in the presence of the executive director of oil refineries. The  executive director expressed his happiness by meeting us and urged students to increase their efforts and work for this country. This visit must have a positive impact for connecting the students of chemical engineering with the national industries in the country and integrating the educational process. And in the end of this visit the supervisors expressed their thanks and gratitude for the contribution of Aramco through its employees and through the accompanying engineer Imed Al-Ghamdi for the useful information and the value of strengthening the scientific approach program.

  Based on the keenness of the College of Engineering at King Khalid University - represented by the Training Unit - to perfect and develop its outputs and link them to the labor market and for its male and female students to receive the best quality and distinguished learning methods, a number of college students, under the supervision of the head of the Training Unit, Dr. Dhafer Ali Alqahtani, coordinated a field visit. The students visited Al Watania for industries and Tasnee factory  in Riyadh on Wednesday and Thursday, November, 22-23, 2023. The visit aims to acquaint the students with the technologies that fall within their specialization and are used in the Al watania for Industry (its plastic and container manufacturers) and Tasnee (the battery factory), which allowed the college students to learn about the nature of factory work by meeting with the engineers working in the factories. The visit began with a visual presentation of the factories’ parts and components, the developments that took place in them from their inception until today, and what are the security and safety precautions. This visit included a field tour of the factory facilities and their effective contribution to the latest technologies and quality of production in the field of plastics, containers and batteries. An open meeting was also held to discuss and answer students’ inquiries related to factory operations and technologies. At the end of the visit, the college employees expressed their thanks to the representatives of the factories for the warm reception, and the efforts they made to make this visit a success, which comes within the cooperation and constructive interaction between the universities with the governmental and private sectors in the field of industry to link the theoretical reality with the practical and applied, because of its great positive impact and great benefit to its graduates and graduates of the College of Engineering.

The College of Engineering has achieved advanced results in the Times Rank of Academic Specialties (THE World University Rankings by Subject) as one of the most famous international classification bodies for global universities, competing with its counterparts at the regional and international levels. The College of Engineering achieved third place nationally out of 18 Saudi universities that appeared in the rankings, and ranked 201st globally this year out of 1,374 international universities, advancing about 200 places compared to last year.The Times Higher Education classification for academic specializations relies in its criteria on measuring the level of development and innovation in universities around the world, as well as their research efforts to influence the local and international environment, in addition to the opinion of specialists and business owners regarding the academic efforts made to educate students and prepare them with the best A level commensurate with global needs in the areas of development, research and innovation. This distinction is based on a set of achievements that come within an integrated series of planned goals according to strategies with broad horizons aimed at raising the university’s global ranking, aspiring through it to achieve one of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in placing King Khalid University on the list of the top 200 University globally by 2030.
The Volunteering and Community Service Unit at the College of Engineering, along with the College of Engineering Club, female section, and the Parents Charitable and Social Endowment, visited the Social Welfare House in Abha on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, to visit our fathers and mothers (distinguished senior citizens, male and female) to honor the elderly, learn about the services provided, and gain experiences and learning opportunities for male and female students. And the tremendous efforts undertaken by the branch of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in the Asir region, with the generous support of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, may God protect and preserve him. The head of the Volunteering and Community Service Unit at the College of Engineering, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh Khalifa Al-Saidi, praised the cooperation of the house’s administration in holding the event. The unit and the house’s director also welcomed hosting the poet Musaad Al-Bakri, who recited a poem that won everyone’s approval.
ABET International granted full international program accreditation to the Bachelor’s programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering at King Khalid University, after fulfilling the requirements for accreditation. This accreditation comes for the second time (renewal of accreditation).
