It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering, King Khalid University. Our department takes pride in its academic journey and contributions to education, scientific research, and community service. Civil engineering is a fundamental pillar of modern society and infrastructure development. Its impact extends from urban planning, structural design, and transportation systems to project management and the safety and sustainability of the built environment. In recognition of this responsibility, we are committed to providing a stimulating academic environment in which our students can acquire specialized engineering knowledge and professional skills while developing innovation, critical thinking, teamwork, and a strong sense of ethical responsibility.
The department is home to a distinguished group of faculty members specializing in the principal fields of civil engineering, including structural, geotechnical, and transportation engineering, as well as construction project management. Our faculty members are dedicated to delivering high-quality education and conducting research that advances sustainable engineering solutions, construction technologies and materials, and the efficiency and resilience of infrastructure in response to future challenges.
We are also proud of the College of Engineering’s continued academic development and expansion, particularly the establishment of the new Department of Environmental and Water Engineering. This department responds to growing national needs in environmental protection, water-resource management, and sustainability. We look forward to strengthening academic, research, and community collaboration between the two departments, contributing to the preparation of national professionals capable of developing innovative solutions to environmental and water-related challenges and supporting the Kingdom’s sustainable development goals.
The Department of Civil Engineering also seeks to strengthen its partnerships with government, industry, and professional organizations, ensuring that its academic and research outcomes remain closely aligned with labor-market needs and national development priorities. We are proud of our graduates, who have made—and continue to make—valuable contributions to infrastructure and development projects throughout the Kingdom.
