Launching the volunteering platform of Engineering College The College of Engineering at King Khalid University has launched its volunteering platform, which aims to support efforts in achieving the Kingdom’s 2030 vision for sustainable development in all societal and engineering fields and to meet the requirements of the current stage that our Kingdom is going through, which requires us to work together in an integrated manner to serve the country and society.  

  The College of Engineering congratulates King Khalid University for obtaining first place internationally in the QM international competitions.   The university's coronation comes first among a number of higher education institutions participating in the competitions of the "Quality Matters" organization, the world leader in the quality of E-learning courses, in which the number of joint educational institutions exceeds 1500 educational institutions from 30 countries around the world. Abdulkareem Al Hanif , received  the Academic Excellence Award for  for the year 2020 presented by the College of Engineering at George Mason University in America, for for the Master's Program.

Source king Khalid university - media center His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Solami, inaugurated yesterday evening, the "How to build your house" forum ,which was organized by the College of Engineering through the KKUx platform, which aims to educate people on the most important steps in owning a house and its construction stages. His Excellency the University President confirmed that the real-estate sector had received sponsorship and support from our wise leadership, pointing that the university’s interest in contributing to the sector is drawn from the latest developments and modernization the real-estate industry witnesses today.  In addition, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Al Misfer, explained that this forum comes to  support the quality of life  through safe and comfortable housing within the framework of the Kingdom's 2030 vision. His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Salami emphasized the importance of students ’graduation projects at the College of Engineering, like other colleges, as they represent the first of their achievements, and their application of the information and skills they acquired in their college, and which contribute to the formation of engineering projects that have practical and economic benefit to them, adding The knowledge economy and investment is the widest field for work at the present time, which is what the college’s graduates should turn to contribute to the economic growth of the Kingdom and the development of the economy in it, in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.   This came during His Excellency’s sponsorship of the recent graduation project exhibition ceremony for students of the College of Engineering, as Al-Salami asserted that the College of Engineering launched efficiently towards achieving great successes and academic accreditations, and is striving to improve its outputs and improve its educational and research processes, which contributed to its leadership and excellence, and confirms this. The attention of the public and private sectors to attract their outputs, indicating that the establishment of such an exhibition and the accompanying events confirms the university’s interest in keeping abreast of knowledge developments, and highlighting the achievements of its graduates to businessmen, employers, incubators and business accelerators, praising what he saw of projects that were distinguished by creativity in their ideas and quality in implementation, and included various fields.   In addition, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Al Misfer, expressed the college’s keenness to empower its students, and its relentless endeavor to raise the level of their skills, underlining the contribution of the college’s employees and students to many initiatives and actions at the university and the region’s level, locally and internationally.   The ceremony began with a tour of His Excellency the President of the University with the Dean and the employees of the College of Engineering, where the numbers and achievements of the college during the past years were presented, which showed a quantum leap in the accreditation of the college’s programs and the number of published research and patents, which raised the college’s classification until it reached the rank between 401 - 500 in the world, according to the Times ranking.   During the gathering, some graduation projects were presented to students from various departments of the college, and at the end of the ceremony, His Excellency the President of the University and the Dean of the College of Engineering honored the distinguished researchers, units, students and employees as well as the distinguished units and departing members of the college, and the Dean of the College of Engineering presented a souvenir made in the laboratories of the College of Engineering to His Excellency the President the University.   It is noteworthy that the College of Engineering, through its students and employees, presented distinct initiatives during the past period, including the initiative to develop and manufacture tools for the prevention of corona, which has achieved great success, while the college is preparing to launch the qualitative virtual forum "How to build your home" on April 17th.

The research work of Electrical Engineering faculty member Dr. Usman on using speech as a biomedical signal to detect COVID-19 has received international recognition. The fundamental idea behind the research is to identify variations in speech signal characteristics as a result of COVID-19 infection using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Once developed, the AI model can be incorporated into a smartphone app, which can detect COVID-19 by analyzing a person’s speech. The fundamental idea behind this research can be extended to smart healthcare, remote monitoring and diagnosis. Dr. Mohammed Zubair’s current research towards detecting oral tongue lesions to detect signs of oral cavity cancer was mentioned in the reputed EETimes (USA) online magazine. He is accustomed to operating at the intersection of medical care and computer science and is on a quest to solve one of the most critical problems in one particularly painful form of cancer affecting the oral cavity. His experience is a bright spot in a new, blazing trail of experiments that are changing the way we look at medical care and cancer detection.  He has developed a novel AI based hardware solution for detecting pre-cancerous lesions on the tongue for early diagnosis of oral cavity cancer. The system showed both benign and precancerous conditions, alongside traditional diagnostics methods. What he discovered was nothing short of astonishing. His detection accuracy (percentage of correct prediction) was close to 90%, with detection inference time at around seven milliseconds. Dr. Mohammed Zubair is validating with his research what many in his field are also saying: AI can greatly improve the accuracy of cancer detection in images, and open up new ways of developing and deploying cancer screening with a new set of bionic eyes that can see and detect what a human can’t.
