In Continuity with the practice of providing industry experience to our students, the Department of Civil Engineering organized a seminar on ‘”The Master Planning and Infrastructure of King Abdullah New District, Jizan,” The Seminar was delivered by Dr. Nemer A. Salameh, Project Executive Manager, Zuhair Fayez Partnership-Consultants on February, 20-2018 in Room A/1/249. The Seminar was attended by the students of Civil Engineering along with faculty members. The student got an exposure to real life industry experience.
In lieu with providing the students with current Industry practices, the Department of Civil Engineering organized a Seminar on Non-Destructive Testing in Civil Engineering. The invited Speaker Dr. Hashem Al Mattarreh delivered the lecture on February, 7 2018. The Lecture covered the topics on Nondestructive testing of materials using X-ray, Magnetic waves, Ultrasonic waves and thermal radiation along with their application in field of Civil Engineering. The students taking the courses of Properties and Testing of Material and Properties and Testing of Concrete attended the Seminar along with other faculty members in College of Engineering.

Students of MED-KKU were given on-job demonstration of all processes in the plant. They have also learned about the practical aspects of factory layout, operation and maintenance issues of CNC machines and work time scheduling, apart from the safety and design considerations in glass processing.    Al-Hasaniah tiles factory is the largest manufacturer of ceramic tiles in Asir region. Students were given demonstration of following processes of the plant; the processing and mixing of raw material, casting, pressing, curing using minimum water consumption by water spray, finishing, transporting and packaging of all types of products.
Dr. Ibrahim Falki , College of Engineering Dean, honored the faculty members who finished the training courses for the five departments  students and thanked them for what they did during the first semester 1438-1439 H. The number of courses was 25 specialized courses benefiting 543 students.
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Falki,  College of Engineering Dean, King Khalid University in Abha, opened the activities of the fourth engineer's day, organized by the college, in the presence of many numbers of students and faculty members. The fourth engineering day included many activities. The most prominent of these were the Graduation Projects Exhibition, which presented the graduation projects for the students of College of Engineering in its civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical and industrial departments. The session was moderated by Dr. Mohammed Al Musfar, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ali Anqi, Head of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Saleh Al Salami, Head of Architecture and Planning, and Eng. Hadi Al-Hakami Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering. The discussion between the speakers and the students focused on how the newly graduated engineer got a job? Where the speakers gathered on the efficiency of the Saudi graduate and his ability to compete for a job as well as the development of skills. Eng. Hussein Makhfour was a guest on the fourth engineering day in the section "Chat with an Engineer Businessman" where Dr. Ibrahim Al-Falki conducted a wide and deep dialogue between the guest engineer and students about his personal experience in entrepreneurship and the establishment of companies in the engineering sector, Hussein to introduce his work in the field of engineering consultancy and urban planning and coordination of sites in addition to the construction sector. The guest spoke frankly about the fun and hard way after graduating from work and was focusing on gaining experience rather than focusing on financial gain. Engineer Hussain stressed the need to set a goal that we seek to achieve in addition to perseverance and perseverance and build a network of public relations, which will have a big role when starting the establishment of engineering office. He talked about his successful experience in running the newly graduated Saudi engineers, especially graduates of the university. Engineer also welcomed the College to apply for the work of his group of companies, and that the applicant exceeds the conditions of their jobs. In the section "Open Encounter" where the Dean and the agents of the college and department heads receive questions, inquiries and initiatives from the students and know the challenges they face, and the interaction of students was great and beautiful, as the result of the meeting recommendations were circulated to the departments of the college. With the completion of the fourth engineering day, prizes were awarded to the winners of the competition which took place on the sidelines of the day and concluded today the fourth engineering day.
In lieu with exposure of the students to Industry practices, the Department of Civil Engineering students organized a visit to the Tameer, Abha for construction and Engineering factory for concrete production. The site visit included Introductory Lecture on current practices in concrete industry, followed by visit to concrete batching plant and in the end the students performed onsite Experiment for concrete. The organizing team consisted of Engr. Roohul Abad Khan, Engr. Mohammed Mahdy Al Mosaby, Engr. Saiful Islam and Engr. Amir Al Khammash. 
The Department of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering - King Khalid University organized a scientific visit to Shuqaiq Desalination Plant on 7/12/2017, and was accompanied by a number of faculty members, Dr. Modather Hassan, Dr. Moataz Mustafa and Dr. Atef El Jery, the coordinator of visits. Where a team of project engineers provided a detailed explanation of the station and its mode of operation. During the visit, the various parts of the desalination plant were identified, how they worked and linked to what the student was learning in the school. The students' interest was noticed through their inquiries and how to benefit from applying the science and innovative methods they are learning to increase the competencies of the stations. At the end of the visit, the accompanying doctors expressed their thanks and gratitude to the engineers who are supervising the station for useful and valuable information that promotes the scientific method and the integration of the educational process.

Under the patronage of His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, the General Directorate of Information Technology (IT) held the second meeting of the University's Website Coordinators on Wednesday evening at Abha Palace Hotel. Honorable dignities from the University attended the meeting including vice-presidents, deans, and staff. At the beginning of the meeting, there was a short introductory film about the new environment of the faculty websites and other electronic entities, which is characterized by a stylish yet simple look and feel. The presentation also included a procedural clarification of the steps to follow when requesting any service related to the main university website or the websites of other entities, in addition to a demonstration of numerous web tools, which would be useful while developing the site. The film also included an explanation of how to professionally edit images and designs, and more importantly, their importance in conveying a professional look and feel. Equally important, the University Rector launched the electronic version of Afaq, the university newspaper, which includes many high-tech features, such as making it accessible to the visually impaired through voice commands and a host of cutting-edge technologies. After that, Rector Al-Solamy launched the website of the General Directorate of Information Technology in its new format, which includes a portal for IT ambassadors and indicators of cognitive transformation. Al-Solamy praised the diligent efforts of the IT staff. He further directed all entities to work on developing their websites and asserted that he would spare no effort in supporting them for the success of their websites. Al-Solamy praised the sustained efforts exerted by the General Directorate of Information Technology affiliates in the advancement of the University and the lightning pace of electronic development. He directed all university departments to exert the required efforts in the development of their websites. He emphasized that he will spare no effort in supporting them to develop and enhance their websites. Correspondingly, the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Dr. Salem Alayani thanked the Rector for his continuous support and follow-up on the technical transformation in the University. Dr. Alelyani also related that the Rector maintains that the key role of the colleges and their employees in enriching the content of their websites and raising the ranking of the University are of utmost importance. In like manner, the CIO didn’t forget to appreciate the remarkable efforts completed by the entities involved who made a great impact on the success of their websites in particular, and on the success of the University main website in general. Within the activities of the meeting, the e-learning department of the University presented a workshop on the KKUx platform. During the workshop, coordinators from different departments and faculties of the University were trained in cooperation with the IT department. They were trained on the new environment of their websites with different content types and the procedures for managing their websites. Following after, there was a brief explanation from the Help Desk department and how to communicate via 8000, in addition to another detailed explanation of the service of mySITE and e-Prints.  All of the attendees were urged to activate these services by training their respective colleagues on how to properly interact and utilize the aforementioned platforms. Furthermore, an informational session was presented where IT ambassadors learned how they could improve the global visibility of their website through search engines, followed by an open discussion to answer the attendees’ questions. The Department of Chemical Engineering, King Khalid University, hosted a symposium on 7/112017 under the supervision of Dr. Atef El Jery, Coordinator of Seminars and Field Visits, Eng. Ismail Al-Ahmadi, Director of Al-Jazeera Paints Academy, a brilliant cadre and a graduate of the Department of Chemical Engineering, as part of the joint cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering, Government Institutions and the private sector in the Kingdom. Engineer Ismail Al-Ahmari presented a scientific symposium on the technology of paints and innovations. The company is a leading company in the field of research and development, which is comparable to the world's leading research centers, in terms of technology and testing equipment, measurement and quality control, and includes the latest advanced devices in the tests of paints; Which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, and conducts tests, researches and tests on the field; where samples of paints are exposed to various conditions and weather conditions and For the long life of the product; its durability, due to the different weather conditions it is exposed to. Eng. A group of students from the Department of Chemical Engineering visited the Abha wastewater purification and treatment station on Tuesday, 14/11/2017. Within the framework of the program, field visits are conducted for each semester under the supervision of Dr. Atef El Jery and Dr. Chandrakant Sarkar. The purpose of this visit is to identify the existing sewage systems as well as the stages of wastewater treatment and the components of treatment station. The wastewater treatment and purification station in Abha, the central station, has been operating for more than 30 years, in accordance with the 40000 m3 wastewater treatment system. This station operates a tertiary treatment system that allows safe irrigation for palm trees. These waters are analyzed on a daily basis. The results of these analyzes show the safety of the treated wastewater that flows to Wadi Bisha. The basic operations of the wastewater are explained until they are processed by Engineer Wael Mustafa, project manager and engineer Amin Ahmed, specialist in the tertiary treatment of the station, using a special panel composing the station components with engineering drawings. we decided to visit the sight and monitors to all the stages of the treatment, and these by explaining the physical therapy to biological treatment and to pumping treated water into drainage channels outside the station. In the practical application framework of the theoretical study, the students of Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, King Khalid University attended a scientific visit to the Shuqaiq Desalination Plant on Thursday, October 26, 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Baiumy El-Assal and Dr. Mohamed Sagr. The visit was very useful for the students, where they had seen most of the parts that they learn in the course of Power Plants and Desalination as well as graduation projects in desalination topics. Students were accompanied by Eng./ Mohamed El Feefy who was specialist in desalination process in the station. He introduced a detailed explanation of all the station components from the beginning of the water intake from the Red Sea and the various stages of water purification processes. A brief Explanation for the water pumps and their types and desalination units. He made a detailed explanation of the Multi Stage Flashing (MSF) desalination process and its theory of work which is identical to the theoretical study in the power Plants and desalination course that has had an effective impact on the gained information for students. Students also watched all the power Plant components of boilers, burners and turbines accompanied with Eng./ Abdo Ali and Hassan Gaabony who are specialists in thermal processes control in the station. They explained a detailed explanation of the theory of work of each component. Students also, watched the control room of the plant and listen to a detailed Explanation of all details for Each Component on the plant from Eng./ Khaled Mohamed and Eng./ Gamaan Ahmed. The visit ended around 1 pm.
The Faculty of Engineering won the final match against the College of Dentistry with a score of 2/0 to occupy the College of Engineering first place and get the University Cup in the  Beach Volleyball. The participation of the engineering team A against the Faculty of Dentistry team b at 26/1/1439 and ended the match by winning the Faculty of Engineering 2/0. In the same time was participated engineering team A against the Faculty of Science B, which also ended by defeat College of Science 2/0 to meet both Faculty of Science and Faculty of Medical Sciences, which ended by victory of engineering teams 2/0 and 2/1 to reach both teams to the semi-finals to meet both teams, College of Dentistry A and Faculty of Administrative Sciences which ended the semifinal by win college of engineering  and win faculty of Dentistry  to meet each other in the final match which ended by winning faculty of engineering.
Alumni  and Training Unit at College of Engineering - King Khalid University in cooperation with the Saudi Organization for Standards, Metrology and Quality organized a course for students who are expected to graduate this year within the Saudi Vocational Program entitled "Quality Infrastructure Principles" in the central stands on Wednesday 5/2/1439 H. The course included five lectures given by experts and specialists at the Organization. At the end of the course, they met Dr. Ibrahim Falki, Dean of the College and Dr. Mohammed Al Mesfer, Vice Dean for Academy to increase co-operation.

Dean College of Engineering Dr. Ibrahim EL Falqi inaugurated the Student Club activities and Reception of new students for the current academic year 2017- 2018 on Wednesday, 4/10/201. Vice Deans, Chairmen of Department, and students, attended the ceremony. It is worth mentioning that the College encourages and supports all students to participate in various student activities with the assistance and supervision of the chairman of the Student Club. These activities are aimed at proper utilization of leisure time by students, reinforcement of relationship between the students after study hours; make the students' aware of their responsibilities and training students to work together as a team. Regardless of their academic levels, students are encouraged to develop and enhance their skills through cultural and sports activities.
The College of Engineering continues to attain remarkable achievements.  The three programs of College of Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering) have been successfully accredited for six years (till September 30, 2023) by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EِِAC) of Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Receiving ABET accreditation provides assurance that these three programs meet the quality standards of the profession for which the programs prepare graduates. These programs will continuously improve the quality of education provided to strengthen the Bachelor degree offered by the College of Engineering for the three programs mentioned above. According to ABET, the College of Engineering enjoys a particularly high level of institutional support which is evident in the resources provided in human services and facilities. The KKU has implemented a quality control information system which is centrally driven and managed, and used operationally at the college level. The university has a strategy focusing on achieving new strengths by the year 2030 that include a commitment to new research initiatives, introduction of further graduate programs, and attraction of high quality faculty. The curriculum of these three Engineering programs was designed to cover all their fundamentals of Engineering and provide sufficient practical knowledge to bridge the gap between university and industries. The Program strength consists in the number and variety of laboratories, and the summer training providing students with practical experience. Finally, ABET accreditation increases educational opportunities for students and provides graduates with distinctive job opportunities in local and global companies worldwide.  
Under the guidance of his Excellency, Dr. Ibrahim Idris Falqi, Dean of College of Engineering at King Khalid University, the college held the closing ceremony of the current academic year 1437/1438 AH on Monday 19/08/1438 H. Firstly, Dr. Ibrahim delivered a welcoming speech to the faculty of engineering staff. In his speech, Dr. Ibrahim mentioned about the continuous and intensive follow-up from his Excellency, the Director of the University and the interest he attached to the faculties of the University and the College of Engineering in particular. He then honored the outstanding faculty members at the college in recognition of their efforts during the academic year. He pointed out that the college is currently exercising many plans and programs to upgrade and develop its student’s skills. Finally, at the end of the ceremony, Dr. Ibrahim thanked all faculty members in the college for their cooperation during this academic year that helped in achieving the vision and objectives of the college.
