presented By Eng. ABUBAKR MUSTAFA Water desalination and purification training course, given by Eng. ABUBAKR MUSTAFA, is designed to give the students basic knowledge about desalination processes. It covered  the different characteristics of drinking water , the national and international standards of the characteristics , sources of water pollution , water pre-treatment process ,water desalination methods . The training course focused on Reverse Osmosis (RO) as a common used technique .30  students have joined and participated this course.
A short term training of 8 hours has been done on topic "Computer Application for chemical Engineering Calculations", during 27/11/2016 to 29/11/2016. The main focus was on MS Excel use of chemical engineering calculations, Excel could be used to solve: Root finding for non-linear systems (Useful in solving thermodynamic systems)  Linear and Non-Linear Regression (Used to fit the data) Solve the simple ode systems using Runge-cut methods (Solving CSTR equations with redactions) Develop spreadsheet software to automate daily tasks, this requires knowledge about the visual basic script. (To interpolate data, plot data) In this Training a variety of  problems of chemical engineering has been solved, which covered most of MS excel features. The main output of the training was that, after completion of the training, students should able to to build their own excel sheets for their problems. In the training following areas were covered well: Basic of Excel Data manipulation and fitting Algebraic Equation Solution Reaction Engineering Mass balance Energy Balance Thermodynamics Mass Transfer In the continuation of this training now these students can offer training on MATLAB, HYSYS or ASPEN in future.

In the practical application framework of the theoretical study, the students of Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, King Khalid University attended a scientific visit to the Shokaik Desalination Plant under the supervision of Dr./ Baiumy El-Assal. The visit was very useful for the students, where they had seen most of the parts that they learn in the course of Power Plants and Desalination as well as graduation projects in desalination topics. Students were accompanied by engineer/ Abdelraheem who is a specialist in desalination process in the station. He introduced a detailed explanation of all the station components from the beginning of the water intake from the sea and the various stages of water purification processes. A brief Explanation for the water pumps and their types and desalination units. He made a detailed explanation of the Multi Stage Flashing (MSF) desalination process and its theory of work which is identical to the theoretical study in the power Plants and desalination course that has had an effective impact on the gained information for students. Students also watched all the power Plant components of boilers, burners and turbines Accompanied with engineer/ Essam Ali who is a specialist in thermal processes in the station. He explained a detailed explanation of the theory of work of each component.
