In an attempt to honor Engineering graduates University Rector inaugurates the 3rd Engineer's Day Source :  King khalid University, Media Center   His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy has inaugurated the activities of the 3rd Engineer's Day which is organized by Engineering College and attended by the University Vice-President for Academic and Educational Affairs, Dr. Muhammed Al Hassoun and the University Vice-President for Projects, Dr. Muhammed Abu Adham, in addition to the Dean of Engineering College, Dr. Ibrahim Falqi. Upon the Rector's arrival, he opened the exhibit which contained graduation projects with models (31 projects from five disciplines namely: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. Rector Al Solamy was also briefed on the corner of the academic guidance which provides consultations for graduates about job opportunities and how to look for a job. In addition, the Rector visited the interview simulation corner, the corner of training on writing resumes, and Idea corner which provides some of the university students' successful projects, in cooperation with Talent and Innovation Center of King Khalid University. The activities also included holding two lectures, the first entitled, "The best format of CV" which was presented by Dr. Ibrahim El Sisi, and the second entitled, "Secrets of Interviews" which was presented by lecturer Muhammed Awad. Dr. Falqi: Engineer's Day seeks to motivate graduates and let them show their abilities, in addition to raising the quality of graduation projects For his part, the Dean of Engineering College, Dr. Ibrahim Falqi, has confirmed that the Engineer's Day is the first of many steps will be taken to honor Engineering College graduates. During this Day, many graduation projects will be presented, discussed, and finally evaluated by the commissions that were formed from different departments. Moreover, the activities of the Day will include establishing many corners and holding many lectures that in turn will help the graduate to get informed about job paths and show him/her how to create a strong CV, in addition to making the graduate ready for an interview. The Dean further clarified that holding this Day seeks to motivate graduates and let them show their abilities, in addition to raising the quality of graduation projects as well. Projects are showed in an open air which definitely considered a successful means for intellectual exchange among students and teachers. Falqi added, "I couldn't forget to thank the Rector for his active sponsorship to the event and for his ongoing support for the Engineering College. I would like to thank the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Exhibition, Dr. Ihab Muhammed Shaqdi and his team who did big efforts in arrangements. I also appreciated efforts done by lecturer Meshal Kblan Al Qahtani who had a supervision role on preparing the location of the event".

presented By Eng. ABUBAKR MUSTAFA Water desalination and purification training course, given by Eng. ABUBAKR MUSTAFA, is designed to give the students basic knowledge about desalination processes. It covered  the different characteristics of drinking water , the national and international standards of the characteristics , sources of water pollution , water pre-treatment process ,water desalination methods . The training course focused on Reverse Osmosis (RO) as a common used technique .30  students have joined and participated this course.
A short term training of 8 hours has been done on topic "Computer Application for chemical Engineering Calculations", during 27/11/2016 to 29/11/2016. The main focus was on MS Excel use of chemical engineering calculations, Excel could be used to solve: Root finding for non-linear systems (Useful in solving thermodynamic systems)  Linear and Non-Linear Regression (Used to fit the data) Solve the simple ode systems using Runge-cut methods (Solving CSTR equations with redactions) Develop spreadsheet software to automate daily tasks, this requires knowledge about the visual basic script. (To interpolate data, plot data) In this Training a variety of  problems of chemical engineering has been solved, which covered most of MS excel features. The main output of the training was that, after completion of the training, students should able to to build their own excel sheets for their problems. In the training following areas were covered well: Basic of Excel Data manipulation and fitting Algebraic Equation Solution Reaction Engineering Mass balance Energy Balance Thermodynamics Mass Transfer In the continuation of this training now these students can offer training on MATLAB, HYSYS or ASPEN in future.
In 23 and 24 October 2016 , The Engineering collage organized a workshop titled "Quality Assessment and ABET Visit Preparation Workshop"  for Mechanical , Civil and Chemical Engineering departments presented by Dr. Javed Mallick.
In the practical application framework of the theoretical study, the students of Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, King Khalid University attended a scientific visit to the Shokaik Desalination Plant under the supervision of Dr./ Baiumy El-Assal. The visit was very useful for the students, where they had seen most of the parts that they learn in the course of Power Plants and Desalination as well as graduation projects in desalination topics. Students were accompanied by engineer/ Abdelraheem who is a specialist in desalination process in the station. He introduced a detailed explanation of all the station components from the beginning of the water intake from the sea and the various stages of water purification processes. A brief Explanation for the water pumps and their types and desalination units. He made a detailed explanation of the Multi Stage Flashing (MSF) desalination process and its theory of work which is identical to the theoretical study in the power Plants and desalination course that has had an effective impact on the gained information for students. Students also watched all the power Plant components of boilers, burners and turbines Accompanied with engineer/ Essam Ali who is a specialist in thermal processes in the station. He explained a detailed explanation of the theory of work of each component.
