Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was one of the few departments that were started during the commencement of the university in the academic year 1422/1423 H. The decision to establish this department was taken to keep up with the renaissance taking place in the Kingdom. As engineering is a profession that employs science to serve the welfare of society as well as to keep pace with scientific progress and technology in the twenty-first century. The department has been established to meet the need of the qualified engineers in the southern part and the south-west of the kingdom in the areas of design, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems.

The Department encompasses an excellent faculty committed to quality teaching and research, a curriculum responsive to the changing needs of industry, excellent laboratories and workshops equipped with the latest equipment and devices, state-of-the-art infrastructure, e-learning facility- contribute to the excellence of our department. The mechanical engineering program for the bachelor’s degree obtained the international accreditation certificate from ABET in 2018 and obtained the national accreditation certificate from the NCAAA in 2019. The department is in the process of continuous development of study plans for the bachelor’s degree and postgraduate studies, as the department offers two master’s programs: the Master’s in Renewable Energy and Environment and other program is the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
