Scientific Seminar Announcement in the Electrical Engineering Department
This scientific seminar presentation provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of multi-carrier modulation techniques, from conventional Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and the next-generation Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) modulation. The presentation begins by addressing the fundamental challenges of modern wireless communication systems, including multipath fading, inter-symbol interference (ISI), and the increasing demand for high data rates and low latency. It then systematically explains how OFDM overcomes these limitations through orthogonal subcarriers, cyclic prefix insertion, and efficient IFFT/FFT implementation, highlighting key advantages such as simplified equalization and high spectral efficiency. The seminar further explores OFDMA as a multi-user extension that enables dynamic resource allocation in the time-frequency domain. Finally, the presentation introduces OTFS as a revolutionary approach designed for high-mobility environments, operating in the delay-Doppler domain to achieve full channel diversity and robustness against Doppler shifts. Performance comparisons and real-world applications in Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, and future 6G systems are discussed, along with practical limitations including PAPR and frequency sensitivity.
We cordially invite all faculty members and students to attend this important event. The defense will take place on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 01:00 PM in room B15-3-2-003 at the College of Engineering, University City of Fara’a.
We look forward to seeing you there!
