Master's Degree discussion announcement in the Electrical Engineering Department
The increasing need for renewable energy sources and the necessity for effective photovoltaic (PV) power conversion systems have driven advancements in compact, dependable, and high-efficiency inverter designs. Conventional voltage-source inverters (VSIs) require a sufficiently high DC-link voltage and often require an additional DC–DC boost converter when connected to low-voltage PV sources. This increases the number of power conversion stages and the total costs, dimensions, and energy losses associated with the system. To overcome these limitations, this thesis investigates the Split-Source Inverter (SSI) as a single-stage buck–boost inverter topology for photovoltaic micro-inverter applications.
