Master Degree discussion announcement in Electrical Engineering Department
The integration of intermittent renewable energy and nonlinear loads into microgrids introduces significant power quality challenges, such as voltage fluctuations and harmonic distortion, which degrade overall system efficiency. To address these issues, this thesis proposes a solution utilizing a Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) combined with a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC). The UPQC stabilizes the grid by regulating voltage and current at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) to minimize harmonics, while the FLC further improves system performance by ensuring a rapid response to load variations and other disturbances.
