1. Industrial Safety and Health workshop under the supervision of the AIChE student chapter
The workshop on “Industrial Safety and Health” was conducted under the AIChE student chapter, to rise the awareness of safety among the students of the department. The students benefited from the workshop and realized the importance of a lab coat, PPE, and other safety equipment.

2Energy-efficient building design: Addressing cooling demand and environmental challenges in Saudi Arabia’s hyper-arid environment
The event on “Energy-efficient building design” enabled the participants to grasp the current environmental challenges in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and around the world. The audience expressed highly positive feedback, noting that the presentation delivered a clear, compelling understanding of how Solar Reflective Paints (SRP), tree shades and Low-E glass can significantly reduce cooling loads, electricity bills, and urban air pollution. Attendees appreciated the strong scientific basis, real-world case studies, and the way complex concepts were explained in an accessible and engaging manner. Many highlighted that the presentation effectively demonstrated the broader environmental and economic benefits—especially for Saudi Arabia’s hyper-arid climate—and provided practical, forward-thinking solutions for sustainable building design.

1. Training workshop on “MATLAB applications in chemical engineering”
The workshop was organized by AIChE student chapter. The workshop covered the topic “Introduction to Basics: MATLAB. It specifically focused on performing different types of chemical engineering calculations using MATLAB. The participants were able to grasp the basic features of MATLAB. They were allowed to practice MATLAB codes, sketch plots, and graphs. The MATLAB application was made to solve Chemical Engineering problems related to fluid mechanics and reaction engineering.
  • Date of the workshop: 5-11-2023 to 7-11-2023
  • Number of Participants = 24

2. Training workshop on “Computer aided process modeling and simulation”
The workshop was organized by AICHE student chapter. The workshop covered comprehensive training on the application of ASPEN in chemical engineering. Students were able to apply the principles of modeling and simulation to real-world problems and able to understand the significance of process design using the Aspen simulation. Students were provided with hand on practice by Aspen Plus for the design of chemical equipment and processes. They performed process design tasks like Process feasibility, economic evaluation, and net carbon analysis for the chemical process plant.
  • Date of the workshop: 01-11-2023 to 07-11-2023
  • Number of Participants = 31
