The Department of Mechanical Engineering was one of the few departments that were started during the commencement of the university in the academic year 1422/1423 H. The decision to establish this department was taken to keep up with the renaissance taking place in the Kingdom. As engineering is a profession that employs science to serve the welfare of society as well as to keep pace with scientific progress and technology in the twenty-first century.
